Student Dress Code
    DRESS AND GROOMING CODE for Senior High   2010-2011

Bloomington Christian School bases its dress code on two criteria: Biblical standards of modesty (I Timothy2:9 & Romans 12:1) and a desire to provide guidelines for the student’s personal safety.

Standards for all students:

1.       Jeans or dress pants may be worn.  Sweat pants and athletic wear pants are not to be worn. (See athletic team wear)

2.       Shirts, blouses and outerwear may have the name of the designer or logo. No pictures or excessive wording is allowed.

3.       Shoes are to be worn at all times. Thongs, sandals, slippers and shoes without heel straps are not permitted.

4.       Student’s hair must be neat, clean and well groomed. Hair styles with extreme cuts or unnatural multicolored dye are not permitted.

5.       Unkempt, unclean, ragged, faded or frayed clothing is not permitted. No excessively baggy or tight fitting pants are to be worn.

6.       Caps or beanies are not permitted on campus.  BCS caps may be worn outside only.

7.       Sunglasses may be worn outdoors only.

8.       Blankets are not permitted in halls or class.

9.       Sweatshirts and jackets may have a print design, logo, or designer’s name.  They must have a good fit—not too loose or not too tight.

Standards for young women:

1.       The slit in a dress, skirt, or short must be no higher than 2 inches above the knee.

2.      No tight skirts or dresses are permitted.

3.      Tube tops, tank tops, and off the shoulders tops may not be worn.

4.      Blouses with or without collars are allowed, but no see through or cleavage showing

5.      If makeup is used, it should be modest, natural looking and in good taste.

6.      No excessive jewelry may be worn.  Piercing is restricted to ears only.

7.      No piercing of tongue, lips, eye brows or nose.

8.      ON Friday, girls may wear jeans or slacks with BCS polo. (NO Capri’s or dresses or blouses)

Standards for young men:

1.       Boys are not to wear earrings.   A “covered” earring is not acceptable.

2.        No piercing-this includes the tongue, lips, eye brow, nose, etc.

3.        Students are to be clean-shaved daily; only mustaches are allowed.

4.        Tee-shirts of any color but white may be worn.  White Tee shirts with a logo or design are allowed.

5.        Both shorts and pants are to be belted or fastened at the waist, not below the waist.

6.        Tee shirts are only worn Monday-Thursday.

7.        ON Friday, boys may wear jeans or dress pants with BCS polo. (NO shirts or ties)

PE Uniform:

1.        The PE uniform must have the student’s name on the shirt and pants.

2.        Tennis shoes and socks are required in PE class at all times.

3.        Black sweatshirts and sweatpants may be worn.

4.        Black or BCS windbreaker material is also allowed in class.

5.        PE uniforms may not be worn to other classes.

Athletic team dress codes

1.         Teams will be allowed to wear their player jerseys only. If on Friday, they must be worn over appropriate Friday wear. No sweat pants, athletic apparel or warm ups will be allowed Monday-Friday.

2.         If coach requires shirt, tie and dress pants, it will be allowed to be worn by the entire team.

3.         Teams may wear their team polo from their spirit pack any day.

DRESS CODE ENFORCEMENT

   Students who are not in proper dress for the school day will not be allowed to attend classes. Students will change into appropriate clothing before attending classes. The administration reserves the right to make the final decision in regard to questionable dress and appearance.  Repeated violations of dress code will be dealt with accordingly.

 

Parental review and support before a student leaves for school is an important aspect of meeting dress and grooming code.

Bloomington Christian School bases its dress code on two criteria: Biblical standards of modesty (I Timothy 2:9 & Romans 12:1) and a desire to provide guidelines for the student's personal safety.

 

Standards for all Students:

 

1.    Polo shirts with no writing or pictures are to be worn. They should be an appropriate size (no spandex), dress

shirts or official BCS T-shirts and spirit wear may be worn if the student chooses to purchase them.

2.    Jeans or dress pants may be worn.  Sweat pants and athletic-wear pants are not to be worn.

3.    Shoes are to be worn at all times.  Thongs, sandals, slippers, and shoes without heel straps are not permitted.

4.    Students’ hair should be neat, clean and well groomed. Hair styles with extreme cuts or unnatural multicolored          dye are not permitted.

5.    Proper fitting jeans and dress pants are to be worn with the polo shirts or spirit wear.

6.    Unkempt, unclean, ragged, faded or frayed clothing is not permitted.

7.    No excessively baggy pants or tight fitting pants are permitted.    

8.   Caps or head-coverings are not permitted on campus.  BCS caps may be worn outside only.

9.    Sunglasses may not be worn indoors.

10.  Jackets should have no writing or pictures-- solid colors only with a maximum of 3 colors per jacket.

   

Standards for Young Women:

1.  Dresses and skirts must be no shorter than two inches below mid-thigh.  No tight skirts or dresses are permitted.

2.  Modest shorts may be worn and should be not shorter than 2 inches above the knee.  All slits must also be no

    higher than 2 inches above the knee.

3.  Tube tops and off the shoulders tops may not be worn.  Tops that reveal the midriff or cleavage is not allowed.

4.  If makeup is used, it should be modest, natural looking and in good taste.

5.  No excessive jewelry may be worn.  Piercing should be restricted to ears only.

6.  On Friday, girls may wear a dress or a skirt and blouse.  Girls may choose to wear black or khaki colored pants

     with official BCS polo shirts.    No blue jeans are to be worn on Friday.

DRESS CODE ENFORCEMENT
